Studio Drawings 2012-2013

Studio Drawings originated in my art studio on Pico Street in central Los Angeles. Light streamed through the windows and large mid-century wooden skylight, producing shadows and highlights on the floor and walls. Over the two years I occupied this studio, I carefully recorded the passing of the sun through the studio. I used hand-coated, light sensitive cyanotype paper to capture multiple “drawings” of the light and shadow. The resulting cyanotypes acted as ephemeral blueprints of the architecture of the studio building. The prints were mounted to beveled wood panels so that the cyanotypes could appear to float off the wall.
